Job summary

Geisinger Medical Center is hiring a shuttle bus driver to transport guests, patients and staff on a scheduled route. You will assist passengers, monitor safety, and report issues to supervision while maintaining a clean, presentable vehicle.

The role requires a CDL Class B with Passenger endorsement, strong communication, and the ability to meet daily safety trainings and logbook requirements. The position is typically on-site at GMC surroundings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CDL Class B with Passenger Endorsement required.
• PennDOT certification/license within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Drives shuttle bus on a route to pick up and discharge passengers.
• Assists passengers on and off the bus as needed and calls for assistance when required.
• Reports hazards, mechanical problems and accidents to supervisor immediately.
• Completes daily pre-trip and post-trip logs for maintenance records.
• Keeps the shuttle clean, orderly and presentable at all times.
• Adheres to U.S. DOT safety regulations and required trainings.
• Handles guest complaints and aids in service recovery on the spot.
• Sits for extended periods and operates a vehicle with required lifting capacity.

Job Summary

Drives the shuttle bus to transport guests, which may include patients, visitors or employees.

Job Duties

• Drives the shuttle bus on a route to pick up and discharge passengers at designated points.
• Assists passengers on and off the bus as needed or calls ahead for assistance from guest service associates.
• Reports hazardous driving conditions, mechanical problems with shuttle bus, and accidents involving bus or passengers to supervisor immediately.
• Records mechanical problems in pre-trip and post-trip logbook daily.
• Reports security concerns to security personnel.
• Must comply with applicable U.S. Department of Transportation safety regulations.
• Complete all safety trainings in the required time frame.
• Ensures shuttle bus is clean, orderly and presentable at all times.
• Reports all patient and guest complaints, suggestions or recommendations to supervisor in a timely manner, and implement service recovery directly with guest at time of concern.
• Work is typically performed in a transportation vehicle or office.
• Requires the ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
• Requires sitting and driving a vehicle for an extended period of time.
• Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.

Position Details

Hiring Incentive: This position qualifies for a $1,250 sign-on bonus paid over two installments.

Required Experience: CDL Class B with P (Passenger) Endorsement

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)- (Preferred)

Experience: Certification(s) and License(s): Commercial Driver's License - Class B - Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), P endorsement within 6 months - Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT)
