Job summary

Community Action Development Corporation (CADC) is seeking a dedicated Transportation Bus Driver to operate a bus or van on fixed routes or on-demand services. The role requires safety-first focus, daily vehicle inspections, log maintenance, and courteous passenger assistance.

The driver will adhere to state and agency policies, attend safety trainings, and participate in routine drug testing. CDL, First Aid/CPR, and a high school diploma are required.

Qualifications

• Safe driving record is essential.
• Must hold valid CDL for vehicles with 16+ seating.
• Must have valid First Aid/CPR certification.
• Ability to work with the public in diverse settings.
• Subject to pre-employment and random drug testing as per policy.

Responsibilities

• Operates bus or van for the Agency.
• Drives routes, demand/response, or contract services as assigned.
• Performs pre-trip vehicle inspections and reports issues.
• Assists passengers boarding/alighting, including seniors and riders with disabilities.
• Maintains accurate daily logs.
• Contacts riders to arrange pickup times as needed.
• Calculates fares and handles bank deposits as requested.

May drive fixed routes, demand/response service, contract services, or other trips as assigned.Duties and ResponsibilitiesOperates vehicle in a safe manner at all times, observing all state and city regulations, as well as Agency policies and procedures.Performs physical inspection of vehicle before the start of each route and notifies route supervisor or transportation director about any problems.Assists passengers in entering and exiting the bus as needed, particularly young children, senior citizens and persons with disabilities.Maintains accurate daily logs.When necessary, should contact rider to arrange time of pickup.Calculates fares correctly and makes bank deposits as requested by supervisor.Must attend driver safety training programs as required.Must understand and follow accident and first aid procedures, as well as Agency policies for drivers.Must be willing to submit to pre-employment, post-accident and random drug testing as outlined in Agency Substance Abuse Policy.QualificationsSafe driving record imperative. Must be high school graduate or equivalent. Must hold valid Commercial Drivers’ License for vehicles with seating capacity of 16 or more. Must hold valid First Aid/CPR certification. Must also be physically capable of operating wheelchair lifts and physically supporting riders as necessary.
