Job summary

The City of Fayetteville seeks a Bus Cleaner to service, clean and maintain transit vehicles and equipment in the Transit Department. Duties include cleaning shop areas and assisting technicians as needed.

Applicants should be able to read and write at a functional level and may obtain a NC Class B CDL with passenger and air brake endorsements within six months. Shift hours are Monday–Friday with rotating weekends.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain within six (6) months a NC Class B Commercial Driver’s License with passenger and air brake endorsements and ability to maintain insurability.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine service and repair work on a variety of equipment and vehicles in the Transit Department.
• Run errands, retrieve parts and materials for mechanical repair; relocate vehicles and equipment from various locations.
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance on Transit fleet; fuel, grease and lubricate vehicles and heavy equipment; monitor fluid levels.
