Job summary

The City of Fayetteville, NC is seeking a Bus Cleaner to service and maintain transit vehicles in the Transit Department. You will clean buses, perform shop tasks, and assist automotive staff to ensure a clean and safe fleet.

A North Carolina Class B Commercial Driver’s License with passenger and air brake endorsements is required within six months. Working hours are Monday–Friday evenings with rotating weekends.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
• Formal or informal education or training to ensure reading/writing capability.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and non-complex service and repair work on a variety of equipment and vehicles in assigned department.
• Run errands; retrieve parts, tools and other materials needed for mechanical repair; pick up and deliver vehicles and equipment.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance of revenue and non-revenue Transit fleet; fuel, grease and lubricate automobiles, trucks and heavy equipment.
• Service automotive equipment with gasoline, alternative fuel, and oil; keep records of amounts used.
• Perform service calls; make temporary repairs; pick up parts.
• Clean and repair shop and equipment.
• Assist other automotive technicians in the performance of mechanical repairs as required.
• Assist in general maintenance and cleanliness of automotive shop area.
