Job summary

Centro de la Familia is hiring a Bus Aide to support the Bus Driver and ensure the health and safety of children during transportation. You will engage with students, monitor behavior, and help with loading and unloading per safety procedures.

This entry-level role requires attentiveness, the ability to count and sign in/out children, and a commitment to creating a warm, respectful bus environment. Bilingual skills are a plus and training is provided before start.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Completion of 4 hours of training required before starting bus duties.
  • Entry-level position: no prior education or experience required.
  • High School Diploma or GED is highly desirable.
  • Must currently hold or be able to obtain upon hire the following certifications: First Aid, CPR, Food Handler's Permit.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus.
  • Must be able to work effectively with: Children with special needs; Children who speak little or no English.
  • Physical requirements: Ability to walk, stand, kneel, and crouch for extended periods; Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Bus Driver in maintaining the safety and well-being of children.
  • Sign-in/sign-out and track number of children; submit logs weekly.
  • Use seat harnesses; load/unload children safely and perform counts.
  • Release children only to authorized individuals.
  • Conduct post-trip inspections and bus cleanliness.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding family and child matters and fulfill other duties as requested.
