Job summary

Pediatric Developmental Services (PDS) is hiring a full-time Paraprofessional to support students in a bustling school transportation setting in Mendham, NJ. You will assist students with disabilities boarding/exiting buses, ensure seating and safety, and coordinate with drivers and staff to maintain a calm, secure environment.

Ideal candidates have strong communication, are self-motivated, patient, and able to connect with children and families.

Qualifications

• Strong communication with students, parents and staff.
• Self-motivated and patient with difficult situations.
• Ability to problem solve and adapt to changing bus conditions.
• Empathy and connection with children and families.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with disabilities during boarding and exiting the bus.
• Ensure students are seated and secured during transit.
• Support mobility needs, including with wheelchairs and aids.
• Monitor behavior and maintain a safe, orderly bus environment.
• Communicate with bus driver and school staff about issues or concerns.
• Attend to individual student needs, including personal care tasks as needed.
• Follow safety protocols and emergency procedures on the bus.
• Assist with other tasks in the school as required.
