Job summary

Talentify is seeking a School Bus Attendant to support the driver in transporting students safely to and from school. You will assist with loading and unloading at stops and on school grounds, while enforcing safety rules and maintaining discipline as directed by school administration.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and experience working with children. You will work with bus drivers and school personnel, and may assist with wheelchair securement when needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist the bus driver and parents with loading/unloading the students at the bus stop.
• Assist the bus driver and school personnel with loading/unloading the student on the school grounds.
• Enforce safety rules on the bus.
• Report misconduct of students on the appropriate form and submit to the designated administrator.
• Maintain discipline on the bus in accordance with administration guidance.
• When transporting wheelchairs, assist with securing wheelchair hookups.
• Position yourself to observe and assist all students at all times on the bus.
• Be familiar with the assigned bus route and ready to help on other routes if needed.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Job description

This position will assist with student needs and behavioral management as they arise, allowing the bus driver to remain focused on operating the school bus.

Work with the bus driver as a team to transport students to and from school safely.

• Assist the bus driver and parents with loading/unloading the students at the bus stop.
• Assist the bus driver and school personnel with loading/unloading the student on the school grounds.
• Enforce safety rules
• Report misconduct of students on the appropriate form and turn in report of student misconduct to the designated administrator.
• Maintain discipline on the bus in accordance with recommendations of the administration.
• When transporting wheelchairs, work with the bus driver as a team to properly fasten all wheelchair hookups.
• Position self on the bus in a location, which allows observation and assistance to all students at all times.
• Be thoroughly familiar with all aspects of assigned bus route.
• Be willing to work with all bus drivers and all students. Although assigned to one route, bus monitors may be expected to help elsewhere.
• Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
• Experience working with children.

Knowledge of:

• equipment and technology as related to bus attendant
• oral, and written communication skills
• interpersonal skills use of tact, patience, and courtesy

Ability to:

• recognize individual student capabilities and exceptionalities while maintaining order on the bus
• administer to students' individual needs, as required
• secure wheelchair, use a wheelchair lift, and/or secure a harness on a student, if required.
