Sylvania is seeking a dedicated Aide for Bus services to assist in transporting and ensuring the safety of students with disabilities. Responsibilities include aiding with personal care and monitoring student behavior to maintain a safe environment.

Assist the bus driver in transporting and ensuring the safety of the students with disabilities to and/or from the school campus as well as monitoring student behavior and provide Personal Care Services, Mobility, Cueing/Prompting, Escorting, Positioning, Supervising/Monitoring, and or Transferring, as included in the student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP). Assisting with the use of specialized and adaptive equipment as needed.
Specialized and adaptive equipment used by students.
Frequent standing and sitting; kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting, reaching, and any other movements necessary/needed to assist students with disabilities.
Frequent walking and reaching.
Frequent heavy lifting (45 pounds or over) and positioning of students with physical disabilities, controlling behavior through physical restraint, assisting non-ambulatory students, and lifting and moving adaptive equipment.
Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise and vehicle fumes; exposure to biological hazards (bacteria, communicable diseases); work around vehicles and machinery with moving parts; may work irregular or prolonged hours.
Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress.
