Job summary

Purdue University Northwest is seeking a Bursar Clerk to process window transactions, respond to emails from students and parents, and provide excellent customer service within the Bursar. This role involves gaining broad knowledge of enrollment services and requires a strong on-campus presence.

The position has a flexible schedule but demands on-campus availability. Pay ranges from $17.00 to $17.25 per hour with a Monday–Friday schedule, and includes comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • One year of cashiering experience or money handling required.
  • Requires a high school diploma/GED.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work overtime during peak registration periods.

  • Process student accounts activities and maintain student records.
  • Process window transactions.
  • Answer questions from students and direct to appropriate staff.
  • Issue manual check refunds and credit card refunds for students.

Overview of Bursar Clerk

The Office of the Bursar is seeking a Bursar Clerk. The BursarClerk will process window transactions, respond to emails fromstudents and parents in the department email, and provide excellentcustomer service within the Bursar. This person will also gaingeneral knowledge of the functions of departments within theEnrollment Service Center.

This position does have the opportunity for a flexible workschedule butdoes require a strong on-campus presence.

PNW Job Title: Accounting Technician

Duties and Responsibilities of Bursar Clerk
  • Process student accounts activities and maintain studentrecords
  • Process window transactions
  • Answer all questions that students have when they call ordirect them to someone who can
  • Issue manual check refunds and credit card refunds forstudents.
  • Disburse Financial Aid checks to students.
  • Process Financial Aid Advance upon approval
  • Balance/close out cash drawer at the end of the day and preparebank cash deposits.
  • Deposit checks in ITMS system for deposit daily.
  • Enter encumbrances/holds on student information system.
  • Process Undeliverable Mail
  • Prepare banks and deposits for Student Organizations andAthletics
  • Process Business Department transactions
  • Set up manual payment arrangement with students
  • Serve as Notary for students and staff
  • Order departmental supplies
  • Provide customer service within the Bursar (StudentAccounts)
  • Prepare bulk mailings
  • Counsel students, parents and others concerning their accountbalances
  • Set up appointments for students with the Bursar
  • Provide assistance to our customers in accessing and processingpayment options using current technology
  • Answer Student Accounts emails in a timely fashion
  • Generate and mail itemized receipts
  • Count/Deposit coins received from other departments
  • At all times provide accurate, courteous and timelyservice
  • At all times serve as an active, supportive and professionalmember of the Finance and Business Services Department team.
