Mercy Hospital St. Louis is hiring a Patient Care Associate (PCA) for the Burn ICU in St. Louis, MO. Positions include full-time Nights and full-time Days with 7am-7pm and 7pm-7am shifts, plus rotating weekends and holidays.

Under RN/LPN supervision, the PCA performs direct patient care and supports the Burn ICU team to deliver high-quality care to critically ill patients. Training is provided through a 175-hour DHS-approved program during orientation and within 90 days.

Qualifications

• BLS certification within 1 month of hire.
• Completion of PCA competencies within 3 months of hire.
• No healthcare experience required for entry

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily hygiene and personal care needs.
• Assist with sterile dressing changes and advanced wound care procedures.
• Support burn dressing changes, wound assessments, and hydrotherapy treatments.
• Maintain sterile technique during wound care and dressing changes.
• Ambulate, reposition, and transfer patients safely.
• Assist with feeding and monitor intake/output.
• Observe and report changes in patient condition.
• Obtain and document vital signs.
• Provide skin care and help prevent skin breakdown.
• Support patient comfort and safety throughout hospitalization
