Job summary

Omaha Marriott Downtown is seeking a Burdock and Bitters Bartender to craft exceptional cocktails and deliver outstanding service in a luxury hotel setting. You will manage bar setup, garnish preparation, and guest interaction to ensure a memorable experience.

The role requires bartending experience, basic math, and strong English communication. State regulations, TIPS/Douglas County certifications, and a passion for hospitality are essential. CPR/First Aid preferred.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages.
• Basic mathematical skills to operate a cash register and balance guest checks.
• Basic English writing skills for requisitions, balance sheets, and vouchers.
• Manual dexterity to garnish, mix drinks, and handle glassware and bottles.
• Ability to read, speak, and understand English to communicate with guests and take orders.

Responsibilities

• Maintain proper bar setup daily and stock beverages and supplies.
• Prepare garnishes, juices, and perishables to ensure quality.
• Greet guests, take orders, mix and present drinks per recipes.
• Enter orders into POS and generate checks ensuring beverage accountability.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of bar area and personal hygiene.
• Adhere to liquor regulations for serving minors and intoxicated guests.

What will you be doing?

• Maintains proper and adequate set-up of the bar on a daily basis. Including requisitioning and stocking of all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws, stirrers, condiments, and produce, based on projections from the daily functions sheet.
• Responsible for maintaining stock, cutting and storing of all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes; juices; and other perishables daily to ensure product quality.
• Greets guests in a courteous and friendly manner, promotes and documents orders for drinks.Mixes, garnishes, and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes and practicing prudent portion control.
• Inputs orders into a register at the point of sale and creates a check for each guest and personnel guests, including those served by other beverage servers, to maintain accountability of all beverages served.
• Maintains all cleanliness and sanitation of bar area along with personal hygiene.
• Must adhere to all State, Federal, and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests to ensure all laws are being followed.

What do you bring to the role?

• Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages.
• Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make changes, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges, and understand portion sizes.
• Basic English language writing skills necessary for completion of requisitions, balance sheets, and vouchers.
• Sufficient manual dexterity in hands in order to use a knife to make garnishes, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead to retrieve stock.
• Ability to read, speak, and understand the English language in order to communicate with guests and take orders.
• Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods of time.
• Previous bartending experience required.
• Ability to obtain any government required license or certificate. Bartending certificate preferred. TIPS and Douglas County food handler certification required. CPR certification and / or First Aid training preferred.
