Overview

The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) is the sixth-largest transportation system in the U.S., connecting communities across a 2,200-square-mile service region. SEPTA is at the forefront of innovation in the transit industry, ensuring reliable and efficient services while driving economic growth in the Philadelphia region. We are seeking candidates for the position of Electrician-First Class (0751).

Starting Pay Rate: $37.11/hour. After 12 months: $41.23/hour, based on applicable contract.

Responsibilities

• Installs, maintains, repairs, tests and adjusts electrical equipment, wiring and fixtures in accordance with specifications and relevant codes.
• Inspects, cleans, repairs transformers, inverters, motor alternators, automatic transfer switches, switchboard relays.
• Inspects, cleans and makes all repairs to lighting circuits; replaces fuses and circuit breakers.
• Installs and repairs substation power traction equipment, bus bars and wiring; repairs motors and motor controls.
• Maintains power service to all electrical apparatus.

Additional Responsibilities

• Includes duties as assigned related to electrical systems and rail infrastructure as applicable to the role.

Qualifications and Experience

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Must have a valid driver’s license. Will be required to obtain a CDL.
• Must successfully complete pre-employment and performance tests as required.
• Must have 4 years of relevant electrical work experience.
• An equivalent combination of trade school education and experience may be considered in lieu of the above requirements (one year of formal education equates to two years of experience).
• Must have relevant electrical work experience and be proficient in the installation, maintenance, repair, testing and adjustment of electrical equipment.
