Overview

The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) is the sixth-largest transportation system in the U.S., connecting communities across a 2,200-square-mile service region. We are seeking candidates for the position of Electrician-First Class (0751).

Starting Pay Rate: $37.11/hour. After 12 months: $41.23/hour, based on applicable contract.

Responsibilities
  • Installs, maintains, repairs, tests and adjusts electrical equipment, wiring and fixtures in accordance with specifications and relevant codes.
  • Inspects, cleans, repairs transformers, inverters, motor alternators, automatic transfer switches, switchboard relays.
  • Inspects, cleans and makes all repairs to lighting circuits; replaces fuses and circuit breakers.
  • Installs and repairs substation power traction equipment, bus bars and wiring; repairs motors and motor controls.
  • Maintains power service to all electrical apparatus.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Includes duties as assigned related to electrical systems and rail infrastructure as applicable to the role.
Qualifications and Experience
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license. Will be required to obtain a CDL.
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment and performance tests as required.
  • Must have 4 years of relevant electrical work experience.
  • An equivalent combination of trade school education and experience may be considered in lieu of the above requirements (one year of formal education equates to two years of experience).
  • Must have relevant electrical work experience and be proficient in the installation, maintenance, repair, testing and adjustment of electrical equipment.
