Job summary

Columbia County in Florida seeks a high‑level administrator to oversee the Building Code/Inspection and Planning/Land Use Regulation offices. This role enforces building codes, reviews plans, issues permits, and inspects property while helping develop data, policies, and procedures for Building and Zoning operations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Urban/Regional Planning, Public Administration, Engineering or related field.
Two years of professional experience in planning, administration or building-related fields.
Experience may substitute for college training on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

Supervises the activities of the Building Department and Planning/Land Use Regulation offices.
Participates in selection, orientation, training, supervision and evaluation of staff.
Prepares departmental budgets and monitors expenditures.
Develops and monitors performance measures and prepares reports.
Establishes priorities, schedules and deadlines; communicates with staff and the public.
