This is a highly responsible administrative,managerialand technical position providing direct oversight of the Building Code/Inspection and the Planning/Land Use Regulation offices of the CountyCode Enforcement, and Special Assessment Inspector. This is advanced skilled management in the enforcement of building codes, ordinances, and related regulations for the safety and welfare of the public including the issuing of permits, review of plans and inspection of property. An employee assigned to this classificationis responsible forassistingin the development of data,policiesand procedures necessary for the operations of the Building and Zoning Department.
Workis performedinside an office.Must?be able to pass a pre-employment physical that screens for?acceptable?eyesight and hearing (with or without correction), the ability to sit for extended periods, and manual dexterity needed to?operate?office machinery.??
Minimum education/experience: graduation from an accredited four-year college or university and two years of professional experience in Urban or Regional Planning, Public Administration, Engineering, Construction Management/Building Construction, or another related field.??Professional experience may be substituted for required college training on a year-by-year basis.
Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s licenseisrequired.AICP, ICC, or State of Florida building official/designations desired but nostrequired.Columbia County residencyisrequiredwithin six (6) months of thedate of employment.
