Job summary

Orange County Government seeks a Building Official to lead the Building Safety Division. You will guide chiefs, inspectors, and plans staff while interpreting Florida Building Codes for construction activities in Orange County.

The role supports the permitting process and enforces code compliance with independent work under supervision. Requirements include a relevant Bachelor's degree, 5+ years supervisory experience, and Florida licenses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction, engineering, architecture or closely related field.
• 5+ years managerial or supervisory experience in construction, inspection or plan review.
• Florida State Code Administrator's License and valid Florida Driver License.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to Chiefs, inspectors, and plan reviewers.
• Interpret Florida Building Codes and apply code intent to complex scenarios.
• Oversee permitting, plan review, and inspections for unincorporated Orange County.
• Develop ordinances and support staff development and training.
