Franklin-Essex-Hamilton BOCES is seeking a Building Trades Instructor for Adirondack Educational Center in Saranac Lake, NY. The role involves delivering instruction to help students acquire carpentry, masonry, plumbing, and electrical skills aligned with NY state standards.

The instructor will prepare students for local employment, meet program outcomes, and report to the program administrator. Qualifications include NYS CTE certification, 5 years of trade experience, and fingerprint clearance.

Qualifications

• Must possess or be eligible for NYS Career and Technical Education (CTE) certification.
• Minimum 5 years of occupational experience in carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical or related construction trades.
• High school diploma required; Associate degree in a related field preferred.
• NYSED fingerprint clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan and provide instruction to help students gain skills for employment or further training.
• Instruct to meet NY State education outcomes and standards; focus on academic and hands-on skills.
• Prepare students to meet local business and industry standards.
• Perform duties assigned by the program administrator.

Duties

• Assess, plan and provide instruction for students so that they may acquire the necessary skills, knowledge and attitudes for successful employment or further training
• Provide instruction so that students may acquire the necessary academic and hands‑on skills necessary to meet New York State education outcomes and standards
• Prepare students to meet local business and industry standards
• Perform other duties assigned by the program administrator

General Qualifications

Applicants must possess or be eligible for a NYS Career and Technical Education (CTE) certification. Minimum 5 years occupational experience in any carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical and other related concentrations in the trade area. High school diploma required; Associate degree in related construction-based field preferred. NYSED fingerprint clearance required.
