Hensel Phelps is hiring a Building Engineer II in Bethesda, MD to oversee maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and building automation systems. You will lead mid-level preventive work, troubleshoot, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring safety and code compliance.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of experience in HVAC maintenance and control systems.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical and life safety monitoring systems.
• EPA Type I/II/III, Universal EPA or NATE certification.
• Hospital, central utility plant or mission-critical facility experience.
• Familiar with safety procedures and reading blueprints/CAD drawings.
• Ability to read, understand and communicate effectively.
• Basic computer skills (internet, email, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Lead mid-level predictive and preventative maintenance on HVAC and building systems.
• Monitor and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and building automation systems.
• Inspect equipment for unsafe conditions and ensure code compliance.
• Mentor and manage Building Engineer I for career progression.
• Maintain records and prepare cost estimates for materials and labor.
• Stay current with industry standards and new technology.
• Respond to service requests and coordinate with trade partners.
