Eastern Janitorial Company is seeking an experienced Full-Time Building Engineer to oversee the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of a commercial facility. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of building systems, sound troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and professional environment.

Based in New Jersey, the role requires 3–5 years of commercial building maintenance or engineering experience and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of commercial building maintenance or engineering experience.
• Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and life-safety systems.
• Ability to diagnose and coordinate repairs safely and efficiently.
• Experience with preventive maintenance programs and work-order systems.
• Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and handle urgent concerns promptly.
• Basic computer skills to complete electronic work orders.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, operate, and maintain HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and building automation systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance, routine inspections, and general repairs.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures and respond to maintenance requests.
• Monitor boilers, chillers, pumps, generators, and fire protection systems.
• Complete daily readings, logs, work orders, and maintenance records accurately.
• Coordinate with outside vendors for specialized repairs.
• Perform minor carpentry, painting, drywall, and other building repairs.
• Respond to emergencies, leaks, outages, and weather-related issues.
• Follow OSHA requirements, codes, and company policies.
• Maintain mechanical rooms, tools, and workspace in safe condition.
• Communicate concerns and repairs to management.
• Provide professional service to employees, tenants, visitors, and vendors.
• Participate in on-call or emergency rotation when required.
