Job summary

Stiltz Limited in Guildford is seeking a field-based Building Surveyor (structural) to assess feasibility for homelift installations and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

You will lead invasive surveys, document structural notes, and collaborate with engineers and construction teams to deliver right-first-time installations in a dynamic field environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in building, structural, or construction surveying.
• CDM Regulations knowledge and Building Control familiarity.
• Ability to produce precise technical outputs (sketches, floor plans, measurements).

Responsibilities

• Lead detailed, invasive surveys to confirm installation feasibility for homelifts.
• Assess structural integrity and risk, escalate when needed.
• Produce clear, accurate survey reports and BOMs.
• Ensure RAMS, CDM documentation, and safety checks.
• Collaborate with engineers and build teams to ensure on-time delivery.

You’ll carry out thorough, invasive feasibility surveys — assessing structural integrity, safety, and compliance — and produce accurate, high-quality documentation that ensures right-first-time homelift installations, every time.

What You’ll Do

• Lead detailed, invasive building surveys to confirm installation feasibility for our homelifts
• Assess structural integrity and risk — including lifting floors, tracing M&E services, identifying deterioration, and escalating to a Structural Engineer when needed
• Produce clear, accurate technical outputs: sketches, floor plans, aperture measurements, structural notes, and survey reports
• Champion compliance and safety — completing RAMS, CDM documentation, Building Regulations requirements, ISO processes, and health and safety checks
• Drive right-first-time delivery by developing Bills of Materials (BOMs), defining work methods, ordering specialist materials, and collaborating with Building Control, engineers, and build teams

What You’ll Need To Succeed

• Proven experience in building, structural, or construction surveying — from asbestos, quantitative, new build, or refurbishment environments
• Carpentry or structural trades background (highly desirable) with the confidence to assess real-world build conditions
• Solid understanding of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) and Building Control, used daily on structural surveys within domestic properties
• IT confident and able to create precise, reliable technical documentation
• A problem-solver's mindset — able to assess complex structural challenges with precision and attention to detail
• Full UK driving licence — a company vehicle is provided
• This is a field-based role involving regular travel, with occasional overnight stays required to meet business needs
