Job summary

TGS International Group seeks an experienced Construction Surveyor/Engineer in Atlanta to provide precise layout, measurement and verification on design and build projects across multiple sectors.

You will work with project managers, engineers and field crews to ensure alignment, elevation and safety standards are met throughout construction. A bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of construction experience are preferred.

Responsibilities

Atlanta, Georgia | Permanent | USD 70,000 to 140,000 depending on experience

A leading international technical engineering and construction partner operating across the UK, Ireland, North America and Mainland Europe is looking for an experienced Construction Surveyor / Engineer. The business delivers design and build contracts for end user clients in the Food, Pharmaceutical, Logistics, Data Center and Advanced Manufacturing sectors, and works closely with clients and supply chain partners to deliver first class projects without compromising on safety or quality.

The role provides accurate layout, measurement and verification services so that structures and components are built in the correct location, alignment and elevation according to engineering and architectural designs. You will work alongside project managers, engineers and field teams to maintain quality, safety and compliance throughout construction.

What you will be doing
  • Performing field surveys to establish control points, reference lines, grades and elevations.
  • Reviewing construction drawings, Building Information Models and specifications to determine exact coordinates, alignments and layout requirements.
  • Laying out foundations, utilities, structures and other site features using physical markers including pegs, paint and laser points.
  • Verifying dimensions, elevations and alignment during construction, and conducting topographic, boundary and as built surveys.
  • Recording field data accurately using total stations, GPS/GNSS and data collectors.
  • Processing survey data and preparing layout drawings, maps and reports using CAD or surveying software.
  • Maintaining detailed field notes, as built records and survey logs.
  • Coordinating with design and engineering teams to identify and correct discrepancies, and resolving layout, alignment and field condition challenges on site.
  • Calibrating, maintaining and operating survey instruments including total stations, levels, GPS/GNSS and laser scanners.
  • Verifying the accuracy of subcontractor work through periodic checks and measurements.
  • Communicating survey results and coordinating layout priorities with site leaders.
What we are looking for
  • A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Land Surveying or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of five years of construction industry experience.
  • Proven experience delivering large scale or complex projects across commercial, industrial or institutional sectors, ideally including data centers, food, pharmaceutical, logistics or advanced manufacturing.
  • An in depth understanding of estimating methodologies, design management, scheduling and construction cost control.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to assess financial, contractual and operational risk.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and client presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in estimating and project management software.
Salary bands
  • Junior or Field Engineer Surveyor, USD 70,000 to 90,000.
  • Mid level or Project Lead Surveyor, USD 90,000 to 120,000.
  • Senior or Licensed Professional holding a PE or PLS, USD 115,000 to 140,000.

  • A discretionary annual bonus of 10 to 15 percent.
  • Relocation assistance of USD 5,000 to 10,000.
