Job summary

Plowman Craven in the United States is seeking a junior survey assistant to work on buildings, infrastructure, and rural projects. You will gain hands-on experience using traditional surveying techniques and the latest geospatial technologies to support North American clients.

You will assist Surveyors with data collection and processing, help meet quality standards, safety requirements, and project timelines while learning survey theory and instrumentation.

Qualifications

• Previous surveying experience or a relevant qualification desirable.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Willingness to travel frequently and stay away from home.

Responsibilities

• Assist Surveyors with data collection and data processing activities.
• Support delivery of projects in line with quality standards and health and safety requirements.
• Develop knowledge of survey theory, industry best practice, new technologies, and surveying instrumentation.
• Help ensure projects are delivered within timescales and commercial expectations.
• Report project progress to Project Managers and support effective project delivery.
• Liaise with clients on site regarding project specifications and deliverables when required.
• Work closely with Surveyors and Regional Manager to gain practical experience and technical knowledge across all surveying aspects.
• Work flexibly, including occasional night work and away from home.
• Undertake additional reasonable duties as requested.

About the Role

You will be working on a wide variety of projects, ranging from buildings and infrastructure in major city environments to rural and countryside developments. Working alongside experienced teams, you will develop hands on experience using both traditional surveying techniques and the latest geospatial technologies contributing to projects for our North American clients.

What We're Looking For

• Previous surveying experience or a relevant qualification in Surveying, Geospatial, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline desirable.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• A self motivated approach with strong problem solving ability.
• Confidence using IT applications and technology.
• A willingness to travel frequently, work flexible hours, and occasionally stay away from home.
• A valid state issued driving licence.
• A genuine passion for building a career within the surveying and geospatial industry.
• Familiarity with Leica survey equipment is desirable
• Experience using laser scanning technology.
• Experience with data processing and AutoCAD.
