Job summary

YMCA of Greater Waukesha County is seeking a Building Supervisor to oversee daily facility operations, ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for members and staff. You will monitor all areas, coordinate staffing, and uphold YMCA safety policies.

Responsibilities include timely emergency response, supervising staff, assisting with laundry or tours as needed, and maintaining exceptional service standards for guests and program participants.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Previous manager-on-duty, customer service, or first responder experience required.
• Able to walk, stand, bend, reach, and climb stairs for extended periods.
• Must maintain First Aid and CPR certifications.
• Strong decision-making and ability to work with a diverse population.

Responsibilities

• Routinely walk all areas of the facility to manage program quality and delivery.
• Ensure adequate staffing coverage for all areas and coordinate with staff.
• Close the facility securely at the end of each shift and follow posted hours.
• Respond promptly to emergencies per YMCA safety and risk protocols.
• Provide excellent customer service to members, guests, and participants.
• Assist with laundry or give tours as directed by branch leadership.

GENERAL FUNCTIONS:In accordance with association and branch policies, the building supervisor is responsible for ensuring a safe, smooth-running facility, providing exceptional customer service, and upholding the mission and policies of the YMCA of Greater Waukesha County. The building supervisor works with staff, members, guests, and program participants.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Routinely walk all areas of the facility to manage program quality and delivery, serve as a resource to members and staff, gain continual awareness of facility activities, and ensure adequate staffing coverage for all areas.Manage the building when directors are not present.Use program knowledge, along with facility, and staffing schedules to deliver proactive assistance and/or intervention as needed to members and staff.Guide and/or redirect staff as necessary and appropriate.May be required to assist with laundry or give tours as directed by branch leadership.Respond immediately to any emergency situations as per the YMCAs safety and risk protocol. First Aid and CPR Training provided upon hire.Possess knowledge of emergency procedures as they relate to calling 911, weather, medical or facility emergencies and performing related functions as required by emergency staff.Must be able to demonstrate safe use of fitness equipment. Training provided upon hire.Respond promptly and professionally to members, participants and staff needs. Handle complaints in a courteous, patient manner using problem-solving techniques.Fill out incident/accident reports following any conflict or emergency situations.Responsible for strict adherence to all YMCA of Greater Waukesha County department policies and procedures related to safety, rules, and other regulations.Uphold the core values of the YMCA when working with people within the YMCA facilities and community.Close the facility in accordance with the posted hours.
