Job summary

McClendon Engineering Inc. is seeking a Structural (Building) Engineer for a full-time, on-site position in Boise, ID.

You will perform structural analysis and design for new and existing buildings and prepare calculations, drawings, and technical reports to ensure code compliance. You will collaborate with architects, contractors, and internal team members, participate in schematic design and construction documents, and provide field support during construction, including RFIs and submittals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; master’s degree in structural engineering is a plus.
• Passed the Fundamentals Engineering exam and currently holds an EIT certificate.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Idaho or ability to obtain licensure within a reasonable timeframe preferred.
• Experience with structural design codes and standards and proficiency in structural analysis/design software and CAD/BIM tools.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Prior experience in building design, construction-phase support, or consulting engineering is highly beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for new and existing buildings.
• Prepare calculations, drawings, and technical reports.
• Review design documents to ensure code compliance and constructability.
• Collaborate with architects, contractors, and internal team members; participate in schematic design and construction documents.
• Provide structural support during construction, including responding to RFIs and reviewing submittals.
• Visit project sites as needed to observe conditions, support inspections, and assist in resolving field issues.
• Maintain clear documentation; manage project deadlines; contribute to standards and best practices.
