Job summary

Wight & Company, a nationally recognized architecture, engineering, and construction firm, seeks a Building Structural Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in our Darien, Illinois office. You will collaborate with our engineering and design teams on creative structural solutions and gain exposure to real projects.

Ideal candidates are pursuing Civil Engineering degrees, have strong organizational and computer skills, familiarity with Revit, and a willingness to learn and contribute.

• Strong organizational and computer skills.
• Revit BIM experience preferred.

Building Structural Engineering Intern - Summer 2027

Wight & Company is currently looking for summer interns to work in our Structural Engineering group in our Darien office. Engineering interns have opportunities to work with the engineering teams on projects and to also collaborate with Wight’s architects and construction managers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with Junior and Senior Engineers to develop creative solutions to challenges in the design processes
• Expand upon existing technical and computer skills to aid with day-to-day activities
• Attend team and client meetings in-house and on-site
• Opportunity to advance group initiatives and objectives
• Provide meaningful contributions to project advancement and completion

Requirements:

• Current student pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (must be entering junior year or Master’s program in Structural Engineering by summer 2027 or have taken relevant structural coursework)
• Good organization and computer skills
• Revit building information modelling experience preferred
• Openness to learn and have fun

Salary Range: $20 - $25/hr. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant.
