Job summary

Wight & Company is seeking a summer intern to join the Integrated Services Group in our Darien, IL office. You will work with architects, engineers, and construction operations to support preconstruction tasks, data entry, and project coordination.

As a current student in Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture, you will gain hands-on experience across budgeting, scheduling, and bid package development while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic firm.

Qualifications

• Current student pursuing a Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
• Reliable transportation to report to job sites as needed.
• Basic understanding of construction materials and methods.
• Good organization and computer skills.
• Openness to learn and have fun.

Responsibilities

• Assist preconstruction team with data entry and document organization.
• Support construction schedule development and updates.
• Help create phasing and logistics plans.
• Conduct comprehensive plan reviews to identify scopes of work.
• Assist estimators in compiling project budgets, value engineering options, and cost comparison reports
• Assist in developing detailed scope sheets for bid packages.

Interns have opportunities to work with our Integrated Services group, collaborating with Wight’s architects, engineers, and construction operations field team.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting the preconstruction team with data entry and document organization.
• Supporting construction schedule development and updates for upcoming projects.
• Helping to create phasing and logistics plans.
• Conducting comprehensive plan reviews to identify scopes of work.
• Assist estimators in compiling project budgets, value engineering options, and cost comparison reports

Requirements

Salary Range

$20 - $25/hr. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant.
