Job summary

The Salvation Army of Kenosha is seeking a dependable cleaner to maintain offices, restrooms, and common areas daily, including floors, windows, and dusting. You will also handle laundry, parking area upkeep, and basic event setup.

Role requires 6–12 months’ related work experience, a valid Wisconsin driver’s license, and a high school diploma or equivalent. This position offers an on-site role with opportunities to assist with maintenance and deliveries.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans offices, meeting rooms, pantry rooms, hallways, restrooms and common areas daily (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, trash removal, cleaning windows, dusting).
  • Monitors cleaning supplies; notifies supervisor of low inventories.
  • Cleans in-house laundry; handles towels and laundry supplies.
  • Strips, waxes, buffs tile floors; shampoos carpets as needed.
  • Keeps grounds and parking areas clean; assists with snow removal and yard work.
  • Assists in care, maintenance, and repair of Salvation Army assets; schedules maintenance and repairs.
  • Identifies maintenance needs and reports to supervisor; assists in event setup/teardown.
  • Follows safety rules; maintains housekeeping standards.
  • Interacts professionally with clients, public, and staff; back-up driver for pickups/deliveries.

About The Role
  • Cleans the offices, meeting rooms, pantry rooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas on a daily basis. This includes sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming, cleaning toilets, keeping restrooms supplied with essential toiletries; removing trash and garbage; cleaning windows and glass doors; dusting furniture, etc.
  • Monitors cleaning supplies, notifying supervisor of low inventories.
  • Clean in-house laundry, to include towels, etc. Cleans laundry/supply room.
  • Strips, waxes, buffs tile floors as directed; spot cleans and shampoos carpets as needed.
  • Keeps grounds and parking lot clean from broken glass, trash, etc. Remotes trash from outdoor garage containers. Maintains the grounds, performing snow removal and yard work.
  • Assists in the care, maintenance, and repair of the assets of The Salvation Army. Schedules maintenance and repairs.
  • Identifies and reports to supervisor any maintenance needs of the facility, such as replacement of fluorescent lights, ballasts, light bulbs, repairs, leaks, etc. Assists in the set-up, tear-down, and change-over for events including, tables, chairs, staging, signage, and all other related equipment.
  • Follows and complies with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintains departmental housekeeping standards.
  • Interacts professionally in all contact, as required, with clients, the public, business community, and Salvation Army Officers and staff.
  • Serves as back up driver and assists with pickups and deliveries.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Experience: 6 to 12 months’ related work experience

Certifications: Valid Wisconsin driver’s license with clearance to drive from The Salvation Army’s insurance.
