The Salvation Army USA Central Territory seeks a Maintenance and Janitorial Associate to support its Wisconsin facilities and grounds, ensuring safe, clean, and well‑functioning premises.

Responsibilities include routine equipment checks, light repairs, vehicle maintenance, snow removal, landscaping, and supporting seasonal campaigns. A Wisconsin driver’s license is required to perform duties and access multiple locations.

Competenze

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One year facility maintenance experience preferred.
  • General maintenance and janitorial knowledge required.

Mansioni

  • Performs weekly checks of major appliances and equipment; fixes minor issues or arranges repairs.
  • Schedules regular maintenance for company vehicles and ensures fueling.
  • Maintains boilers, HVAC, lawn equipment, and outdoor areas.
  • Removes snow and cleans sidewalks and walkways around facilities.
  • Performs general landscaping: mowing, trimming, weeding, watering.
  • Purchases parts and supplies with approval following policy.
  • Inspects and cleans gutters regularly and keeps storage areas organized.
  • Cleans up broken glass or spills promptly and safely.
  • Assists with donation pickups and with seasonal events (e.g., Red Kettle Campaign, Toys for Tots).

Job Objective:

Performs maintenance and janitorial duties within all Salvation Army facilities and its grounds.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs weekly checks of major appliances to assure they are all in good working order. Changes light bulbs as needed. Checks on reported malfunctions of appliances, equipment, plumbing, and electricity, heating and cooling in all properties; makes minor repairs if possible. If necessary, promptly contacts appropriate vendor to make repairs.
  • Schedules regular maintenance of company vehicles to include regular oil changes and other required annual or semi‑annual routine maintenance. Ensures company vehicles are adequately fueled.
  • Schedules annual maintenance and necessary repairs on facility boilers and air conditioning, lawn mower and snow blower.
  • Removes snow from sidewalks and walkways in front and around the sides of all facilities, as well as the common area behind the shelter.
  • Performs general landscaping duties: to include mowing lawn, trimming hedges, pulling weeds, and watering plants, flowers, and grass.
  • Purchases parts and supplies needed for maintenance with prior approval of Shelter Director, following purchase policy.
  • Checks and cleans gutters on a regular basis.
  • Keeps garage and other storage areas clean and organized for their intended purpose.
  • Cleans up broken glass or spilled liquid from floor, parking lot, and other areas within facilities and grounds in a timely, safe manner.
  • Assists with donation pickups
  • Assists with seasonal events such as Red Kettle Campaign, Toys 4 Tots, etc.
Minimum Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

Education: High school diploma or the equivalent preferred.

Experience: One year facility maintenance experience preferred. General maintenance and janitorial knowledge required.

Certifications: Valid Wisconsin Driver's license, with clearance to drive from The Salvation Army's insurance carrier.
