Job summary

The Salvation Army of Kenosha is seeking a Building Services Worker to maintain a clean and safe environment across offices, meeting rooms, restrooms, and common areas. You will also handle in-house laundry and assist with event setup and breakdown.

Responsibilities include daily cleaning, inventory monitoring of supplies, and occasional grounds and snow removal. A valid Wisconsin driver’s license is required, with driving clearance provided by the organization.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 6 to 12 months' related work experience required.
  • Valid Wisconsin driver's license with clearance to drive from The Salvation Army's insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans the offices, meeting rooms, pantry rooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas daily (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, toilets, restrooms supplies, trash removal, windows, dusting).
  • Monitors cleaning supplies and notifies supervisor of low inventories.
  • Cleans in-house laundry and towels; cleans laundry/supply room.
  • Strips, waxes, buffs tile floors; spot cleans and shampoos carpets.
  • Keeps grounds and parking lot clean; removes trash from outdoor containers; performs snow removal and yard work.
  • Assists in maintenance, repairs, and setup for events (tables, chairs, staging, signage).
  • Observes safety rules and maintains housekeeping standards.
  • Interacts professionally with clients, the public, and Salvation Army staff.
  • Serves as back-up driver and assists with pickups and deliveries.

The Building Services Worker cleans the buildings and laundry, for The Salvation Army of Kenosha County, ensuring a clean and safe environment for staff and users of the facilities.

About the role:
  • Cleans the offices, meeting rooms, pantry rooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas on a daily basis. This includes sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming, cleaning toilets, keeping restrooms supplied with essential toiletries; removing trash and garbage; cleaning windows and glass doors; dusting furniture, etc.
  • Monitors cleaning supplies, notifying supervisor of low inventories.
  • Clean in-house laundry, to include towels, etc. Cleans laundry/supply room.
  • Strips, waxes, buffs tile floors as directed; spot cleans and shampoos carpets as needed.
  • Keeps grounds and parking lot clean from broken glass, trash, etc. Remotes trash from outdoor garage containers. Maintains the grounds, performing snow removal and yard work.
  • Assists in the care, maintenance, and repair of the assets of The Salvation Army. Schedules maintenance and repairs.
  • Identifies and reports to supervisor any maintenance needs of the facility, such as replacement of fluorescent lights, ballasts, light bulbs, repairs, leaks, etc. Assists in the set-up, tear-down, and change-over for events including, tables, chairs, staging, signage, and all other related equipment.
  • Follows and complies with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintains departmental housekeeping standards.
  • Interacts professionally in all contact, as required, with clients, the public, business community, and Salvation Army Officers and staff.
  • Serves as back up driver and assists with pickups and deliveries.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Experience: 6 to 12 months' related work experience

Certifications: Valid Wisconsin driver's license with clearance to drive from The Salvation Army's insurance.
