Job summary

Crystal Lake School District 47 is seeking a Building Paraprofessional to support students with diverse needs. The role involves assisting teachers, monitoring and guiding students across classrooms, bus, recess, lunch, and hallways, and applying instructional accommodations.

Candidates should hold an ISBE Paraprofessional license or Short Term Approval, be comfortable with technology, and maintain student confidentiality while understanding IEPs and 504/Safety Plans.

Qualifications

• Valid ISBE Paraprofessional License or Short Term Approval.
• Basic knowledge and willingness to learn appropriate use of technology.
• Desire to work with students with special needs.
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Maintain confidentiality of students and their records.
• Understand basic elements of IEP, Safety Plans and 504 Plans.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with teachers, staff, support services and students.
• Collaborate and foster teamwork.
• Maintain anecdotal notes and data recording as needed.
• Support strategies to facilitate student social interactions with staff and peers.
• Assist/monitor students to and from bus, during recess, lunch, and in hallways.
• Provide physical assistance and supervise toileting when required.
• Assist with adaptive equipment care and maintenance.
• Respond to emergency situations, drills and field trips.
• Reflect knowledge of students' IEP goals, medical needs and limitations.
• Implement test accommodations/modifications during assessments.
• Attend ongoing training and maintain confidentiality.
