Job summary

Crystal Lake Community Consolidated School District 47 is hiring a Special Education Paraprofessional (Adjusted Learning) to support instruction in diverse classroom settings under supervision. The role includes assisting with academic tasks, behavioral support, language and physical needs, taking anecdotal notes, and helping with transportation, recess, meals, and toileting as required.

Starting rate is $18.20/hour, with eligibility for a $1300 Special Education stipend, paid time off benefits,

Qualifications

• Valid ISBE Paraprofessional License or Short Term Approval.
• Willingness to learn appropriate use of technology.
• Desire to work with students with special needs.
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Maintain confidentiality of students' records.
• Understand basic elements of an IEP.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with teachers, staff, support services and students.
• Collaborate and foster teamwork.
• Maintain anecdotal notes and data recording as needed.
• Assist staff with instructional activities and modify materials as directed.
• Assist/monitor student(s) to and from bus when needed.
• Assist/monitor student(s) during recess, lunch, and transitions as appropriate.
• Assist with feeding skills with appropriate supervision/training.
• Provide physical assistance with toileting and related needs as required.
• Assist with care, correct use and maintenance of adaptive equipment.
• Attend ongoing training as needed and maintain confidentiality.
