Job summary

SAFEbuilt is seeking a Building Official to support the Cincinnati Metropolitan Area, OH. The role emphasizes applying building codes, reviewing plans, and coordinating with clients to deliver high-quality service across multiple jurisdictions.

You will supervise building department staff, attend client and public meetings, and ensure compliance with state and local regulations while contributing to a dynamic team of professionals in both office and field settings.

Qualifications

• OH CBO Level 5 or CCO Level 6 certification required.
• Knowledge of local building code regulations, policies and procedures.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to use MS Office.
• Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment.
• Must be self-directed and self-motivated.

Responsibilities

• Meet all state and locally mandated code compliance and reporting requirements.
• Apply building codes, policies, and procedures to daily building department operations.
• Serve as primary liaison with clients to deliver high-level customer service.
• Attend department and community meetings as required by the client.
• Perform plan reviews for commercial and residential projects.
• Provide inspection support as needed.
• Supervise building department staff.
