Job summary

The Town of Eagle is seeking a skilled Building Official to lead the Building Department, overseeing inspections, plan reviews, and code enforcement for a growing community near Eagle, Colorado.

You will manage a small team, collaborate with the Community Development Department, and serve as the expert on building safety and code compliance. A passion for public service and strong leadership are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Minimum four years as a building inspector or equivalent.
• ICC certifications preferred: plans examiner, building inspector, plumbing, mechanical, and/or building official.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Technology, Engineering, Public Administration, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee building inspections, plan reviews, code compliance, and permit issuance.
• Lead and develop the Building Department staff including inspector and permit technician.
• Review construction plans for compliance with local, state, and national codes.
• Investigate code violations and unsafe structures; issue corrective actions as needed.
• Collaborate with Community Development on land use code compliance and policy.
• Provide expert guidance to contractors, homeowners, and officials; attend meetings as required.
