Job summary

The City of St. Joseph is seeking a Building Official to perform routine and technical tasks related to enforcing building and related codes. This role involves examining construction plans and conducting on-site inspections to ensure compliance with codes and ordinances, thereby protecting public health, safety, welfare, and property.

Qualifications

• Must possess valid Michigan Driver’s License.
• Building Official Registration under the State of Michigan Skilled Trades Act 407.
• Ability to pass a background investigation.

Responsibilities

• Examine construction plans to ensure compliance with codes and ordinances.
• Protect public health, safety, welfare, and property; perform related duties as assigned.
