Control Solutions Group, Inc., an EMCOR Group company, seeks a Building Management Systems (BMS) Engineer to join our New York City team. The role involves developing controller software sequences, building databases, and supporting commissioning for HVAC/building automation projects.

The ideal candidate has deep technical knowledge in integrated systems, with 4+ years in HVAC/controls and experience with BACnet/Modbus protocols.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in EE, ME, CE, Math or Physics required.
• Minimum 4 years experience in the HVAC/controls industry.
• DDC controller programming and third-party device integration with BACnet and Modbus preferred.
• Experience with mechanical system operation.
• Strong communication, negotiating and organizational skills.
• Competency in AutoCAD, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Automated Logic WebCTRL experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Produce drawings, sequences of operation, and bills of materials for building automation systems.
• Develop BMS software databases (programming and graphics) per engineering documents and project specs.
• Design, integrate and support network migration for BACnet/Modbus platforms.
• Maintain As-Built drawings in AutoCAD, Visio, Excel and Word as required.
• Visit the field to adjust design sequences for proper operation and assist commissioning.
• Stay current on industry trends and self-study to improve skills.
• Collaborate with managers, engineers, technicians, clients, and consultants.

Job Summary

Control Solutions Group, Inc., an EMCOR Group company, seeks an Building Management Systems (BMS) Engineer to join our New York City team.

In this role, the BMS Systems Engineer will collaborate with BMS Applications Engineers and Controls Project Engineers to develop accurate submittals for mechanical engineering approvals. Your core responsibilities will include generating controller software sequences and building workstation and server databases equipped with graphics and reporting tools. The ideal candidate possesses deep technical competence in integrated systems and the ability to independently resolve or guide teams through highly complex technical challenges.

Experience with controls, BMS, BAS, DDC, Building Automation, Building Management, EPMS and Energy Management Systems is preferred.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Produce drawings, sequences of operation, and bills of material of building automation systems for submission to project Engineers/teams.
• Develop BMS software databases (programming and graphics) in accordance with engineering documents and project specifications.
• Design, integrate and support network migration for Internet / Ethernet / BACnet / Modbus platforms.
• Maintain accurate As-Built drawing package and make changes in Autocad, Visio, Excel and Word as required.
• Visit the field as necessary to adjust design sequences to operate correctly with the actual system(s) and remain on site as necessary to complete functional checkout and commissioning activities in support of technicians to meet project schedules.
• Conduct self-study to improve knowledge of required job skills and stay abreast of industry trends.
• Develop and maintain a cooperative working relationship with members of the company team of managers, engineers and technicians, the client and consulting engineers.
• Value engineering recommendations where appropriate.
• Working with consulting engineering community to foster personal and company growth and maintain design discussions throughout the build process.
• Conduct surveys and generate repair recommendations and reports to customers.
• Remain current on the latest products, technologies and applications available
• Mentoring younger colleagues
• Develop custom energy reporting, power metering, trending and billing programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in EE, ME, CE, Math or Physics
• Strong interest in building automation and controls required

• Minimum 4 years experience in the HVAC/controls industry

• DDC controller programming, third party device integration with BACnet and modbus preferred
• Experience with mechanical system operation
• Basic understanding of the construction process preferred
• Strong communication, negotiating and organizational skills
• Competency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Automated Logic WebCTRL experience a plus
