Job summary

Fort Bend County seeks a skilled maintenance professional to support our facilities with repair and preventive maintenance tasks. You will handle general repairs, basic electrical and plumbing, and assist with furniture setups as needed.

Responsibilities include maintaining HVAC and electrical systems, installing wiring, and performing routine condition checks across buildings. You may participate in emergency management duties as directed by county managers and train fellow staff as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least 3 years related maintenance experience.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing and carpentry; electrical/HVAC knowledge preferred.
  • Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Repairs HVAC and electrical equipment as required.
  • Makes necessary repairs to building facilities.

  • Assists in the preventative maintenance of all systems.
  • Trains and/or assists other employees with their duties.
  • Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.

  • Assist with general repairs within the facility including, basic electrical, plumbing, preventative maintenance, assembling and moving furniture as needed.
  • Repairs HVAC and electrical equipment as required.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma/GED.
  • 3 years job related experience.
  • Basic working knowledge of plumbing and carpentry; specific knowledge of commercial electrical and HVAC systems. License preferred.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills; good interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials.

STARTING SALARY RANGE: $20.71 - $25.89 hourly based on qualifications

CLOSING DATE: Upon filling 2 positions
