Job summary

Fort Bend County is seeking part-time grounds and facility staff to prepare the fairgrounds for events, clean buildings, restrooms, and kitchens, and operate tractors and forklifts. The role includes mowing, minor repairs, and maintaining the arena and related areas.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and at least 6 months of related experience. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to follow instructions are required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 6 months job related experience.
  • Basic skills in operation of lawn and building care equipment; good interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with other employees and the public.
  • Requires understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved verbal and written instructions; complete printed forms and make notes; perform routine mathematical calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare building and grounds for functions at fairgrounds.
  • Clean buildings; sweep, scrub floors; wipe tables and chairs; clean restrooms and kitchens.
  • Clean outdoor restrooms and make necessary repairs.
  • Operate tractor and forklift.
  • Mow grass and weed eat.
  • Repair equipment as necessary.
  • Maintain arena area as required or requested by Fair Association.
  • Keep records and submit reports of repairs completed.
  • Participate in emergency management duties as directed.

Part-time Responsibilities
  • Responsible for having the building and grounds ready for functions at fairgrounds.
  • Clean the buildings, including sweep and scrub floors, wipe tables and chairs, clean restrooms and kitchens.
  • Clean outdoor restrooms and make necessary repairs.
  • Operate tractor and forklift.
  • Mow grass and weed eat.
  • Repair equipment as necessary.
  • Pick up trash from parking lot and grounds.
  • Responsible for opening and closing buildings during weekend duty.
  • Paints and repairs woodwork and plaster.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools o repair or fabricate parts.
  • Maintains arena area as required or requested by Fair Association.
  • Keeps records and submits reports of repairs completed.
  • Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.

SALARY RANGE: $16.02-Min-$24.03-Max/ per hour
