Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin & Upper Michigan (LSS) is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician in Milwaukee, WI. This full-time, on-site role supports safe, welcoming, and well-maintained facilities across multiple sites, including apartments and program locations.

You will handle a range of repairs, preventative maintenance, and servicing of HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building tasks while ensuring compliance with housing standards.

Qualifications

• . High school diploma or GED.
• Two or more years of facility, apartment, building, or property maintenance experience.
• Working knowledge of Plumbing, Electrical systems, Carpentry, Heating and cooling systems, General building maintenance.
• Ability to operate maintenance tools and equipment safely.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and maintenance documentation.

Responsibilities

• Respond to maintenance requests and complete repairs promptly.
• Perform plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, and general repairs.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on HVAC systems, boilers, water heaters, and equipment.
• Repair/replace doors, windows, fixtures, flooring, and furnishings.
• Maintain exterior grounds, landscaping, snow removal, and curb appeal.
• Complete routine inspections and document maintenance activities.
• Assist with apartment turnover and make-ready projects.
• Monitor vendor work and report concerns.
• Purchase supplies within established guidelines.
• Participate in an on-call rotation for emergency maintenance needs.
• Support compliance with HUD, WHEDA, REAC, municipal codes and agency standards.
