Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin & Upper Michigan (LSS) in Milwaukee is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician to maintain facilities supporting individuals, families, and communities across Milwaukee. You will perform skilled and semi-skilled tasks across multiple properties, ensuring safety, functionality and welcoming environments.

The role covers plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC preventive maintenance, door/window repairs, grounds keeping, inspections, and on-call rotation.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED or better.
• Two+ years in facility/building/property maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints/maintenance docs.

Responsibilities

• Respond to maintenance requests and complete repairs promptly.
• Perform plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring repairs.
• Provide preventive maintenance on HVAC, boilers, water heaters, and mechanical equipment.
• Repair doors, windows, fixtures, flooring, and furnishings.
• Maintain exterior grounds, landscaping, snow removal, curb appeal.
• Complete routine inspections and document maintenance activities.
• Assist with apartment turnover and make-ready projects.
• Monitor vendor work and report concerns.
• Purchase supplies within guidelines.
• Participate in on-call rotation for emergencies.
• Ensure compliance with HUD/WHEDA/REAC codes and agency standards.
