Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin & Upper Michigan (LSS) is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician in Milwaukee, WI. You will perform a range of skilled maintenance tasks across properties to keep facilities safe, functional, and welcoming for clients and staff.

Responsibilities include responding to requests, performing plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and general repairs, plus ongoing preventative maintenance and on-site inspections.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Two+ years of facility, apartment, building, or property maintenance experience.
• Ability to operate maintenance tools and equipment safely.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and maintenance documentation.

Responsibilities

• Respond to maintenance requests and complete repairs promptly.
• Perform plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, and general repairs.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on HVAC systems, boilers, water heaters, and mechanical equipment.
• Repair/replace doors, windows, fixtures, flooring, and furnishings.
• Maintain exterior grounds, landscaping, snow removal, and curb appeal.
• Complete routine inspections and document maintenance activities.
• Assist with apartment turnover and make-ready projects.
• Monitor vendor work and report concerns.
• Purchase supplies within guidelines.
• Participate in on-call rotation for emergency maintenance needs.
• Support compliance with HUD, WHEDA, REAC, codes, and agency standards.
