Building Maintenance Technician (Maintenance)

Choate Rosemary Hall has an opening for a Building Maintenance Technician. This role is responsible for providing general repair and maintenance services to the Choate Rosemary Hall community. It is a full-time, benefit-eligible position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Performs routine general maintenance, including but not limited to: interior and exterior painting, maintenance, and repairs of campus roofing, gutter systems, ceilings, walls, doors, windows, and floors. Completes assigned work orders.
2. Prepares dormitories and faculty residences for seasonal turnover, school openings, and new employee move-ins.
3. Ensures all work meets building codes and construction standards.
4. Participates in on-call rotation, providing support for school events, which may include evenings and weekends.
5. Follows OSHA and NFPA safety standards, including confined space entry and ladder safety.
6. Maintains shop and work areas in a neat and orderly manner.
7. Provides maintenance for campus roofing and gutter systems.
8. Adheres to all safety guidelines and procedures.

SECONDARY DUTIES:

1. Assists with emergency preparedness, storm response, and damage prevention.
2. Participates in the 24/7 rotational on-call program, available for emergency services during evenings and weekends.
3. Engages in continuing education to enhance skills and knowledge.
4. Assists in overseeing outside contractors’ activities.
5. Supports operation of the lock shop.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.
