About Us:
Climate Pledge Arena is the complete redevelopment of an historic landmark, originally built for the 1962 Seattle World's Fair. Sitting at the base of the Space Needle on the Seattle Center campus, the arena is home to the NHL’s Seattle Kraken, WNBA's Seattle Storm, and the world's biggest performers of live music and events. Since opening in October 2021, we have hosted over 400 public events and welcomed over 4 million guests. The arena has been awarded Sports Business Journal’s Sports Facility of the Year and Pollstar’s best new concert venue and is consistently ranked within Pollstar’s top 10 for top grossing arenas worldwide.
Seattle Arena Company, a division of Oak View Group (OVG), privately developed and now operates Climate Pledge Arena. OVG based in Denver, Colorado is a global leader in facility development, management, hospitality, and sales.
Climate Pledge Arena is named after The Climate Pledge, an initiative founded by Amazon and Global Optimism asking global corporations to become net zero carbon by 2040. We have one of the most progressive sustainability programs of any arena our size, including being the first and only arena in the world to achieve the International Future Living Institute’s first Zero Carbon Certification.
Position Summary:
The Building Maintenance Tech (BMT) is responsible for the overall maintenance, repair, and improvement of Climate Pledge Arena. Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, this position includes the areas of carpentry, dry wall, wall finishes including wallpaper, engineered materials, tile, furniture assembly, door locks and doors. Additionally, this job also includes working with vendors and subcontractors.
This is a full-time position based in Seattle WA.
- Ensure building systems are in proper working condition. ADA entry, doors and locks, roll up doors, loading dock levelers, safety and security equipment, lifts/Forks/carts and restroom partitions, carpet, tile, and concrete repair.
- Repair and install drywall, wall coverings, and glazing.
- Assist in major repairs, upgrades, and participating in large-scale maintenance duties as part of the operations team
- Documenting procedures, processes, and best practices in on-plan sets and end-user manuals or modifying what has previously been documented.
- Performing preventative maintenance and scheduled predictive maintenance checks following manufacturers’ recommendation and/or as assigned.
- Log into the work order management system to find, accept, and complete the work request.
- Work in conjunction with the Facilities Manager to help implement an effective P.M. program for all equipment and systems.
- Assist in daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annual required building inspections, and institute required corrections and/or Preventative Maintenance systems, and schedule as needed.
- Collaborate with other workers, company’s officials, and staff to effectively provide solutions to maintenance problems.
- Support the successful completion of 50 NHL games, 20 WNBA games, 80 major music/entertainment events, and 25 miscellaneous events each year.
- Work with subcontractors and vendors as required to carry out the various responsibilities of such 3 rd party services.
- Perform other duties as assigned and as needed to assist in the management of responsibilities associated with the facility.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is required.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines.
- Able to effectively interact with customers, field staff, co-workers and vendors.
- Flexible and able to work with constantly adjusting schedule, priorities, and responsibilities.
- Strong verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Extremely organized and detail oriented, resourceful, quick learner and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- A high degree of personal integrity and consistently put the interests of the organization first.
- Strong ability to read and comprehend wiring diagrams, and to follow manuals on operation and installation to successfully complete tasks.
- Strong ability to apply various types of equipment safely and efficiently, and to maintain and service them.
- Strong ability to quickly understand and carry out both written and oral instructions effectively.
Preferred Experience & Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent, 2-year technical accreditation preferred.
- 2-5 years of experience in property and/or facilities maintenance.
- 1-2 years of construction experience.
- Experience with a commercial building preferred.
- Experience with large-scale events in a stadium or concert setting of a similar size(18,000 seat) is highly desirable.
Working Conditions:
- Minimal Travel (<10% travel): May be required to travel. Trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay away from home for one or more nights.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required
- Frequent bending, lifting 15-20 pounds, sitting, exposure to multiple external elements, extensive walking through the building
Compensation:
- In accordance with the Washington State Equal Pay and Opportunity Act, the expected base pay range for this position is $40.00 -$45.00 per hour. Actual base pay will depend on employee’s experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
- This role is classified as full-time, non-exempt.
