Black Hills State University invites qualified, self-motivated candidates for a Building Maintenance Specialist in the Facilities Services Department. The role focuses on maintaining heating and cooling systems across campus, performing preventive, predictive, and scheduled maintenance on HVAC and boiler systems.

Typical duties include boilers and boiler controls maintenance, basic energy monitoring, and coordinating HVAC work with other maintenance tasks.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years of HVAC work in the field or three full years of school or a combination of both.
  • Acquire a license within 6 months of employment.
  • Must have working knowledge of computers, local and national mechanical and building codes, basic knowledge of electrical controls, several years of experience in boiler controls, able to lift heavy loads, climb ladders, stairs and scaffold, and be willing to work long hours when needed.

Job description

Black Hills State University invites qualified, self-motivated candidates for a Building Maintenance Specialist for the Facilities Services Department.

DUTIES

This position will be expected to maintain the heating and cooling systems of the campus and keep them in proper working order. Perform preventive, predictive, and scheduled maintenance and repairs to the HVAC and Boiler systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Boilers & boiler controls
  • Basic energy monitoring on central and remote systems

Coordinate the above HVAC work with all other facets of maintenance

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE
  • Experience with managing workflow processes and balancing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to make decisions independently and to determine when consultation with supervisor is required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with students, faculty, staff and the public.
QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

COMMENTS

Periodically will be required to work at the Rapid City Campus.

Typical office hours are Monday through Friday 7:00AM-3:30PM.

After hours ON CALL will be required on a rotation basis.
