Job summary

AION is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform routine maintenance, repairs, and preventative tasks for residential units, common areas, and building systems. You will respond to service requests promptly and contribute to safe, efficient property operations.

The role supports life-safety requirements and works with the service team to inspect, document, and address issues. A high school diploma and 1–3 years of maintenance experience are preferred; trade school certification is a plus, and

Qualifications

  • Must have basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry and general repairs.
  • Able to perform routine maintenance tasks and repairs across multiple building systems.
  • Willingness to learn and develop technical skills; valid driver’s license required.

  • Assist with unit turns, inspections, repairs, and readiness for occupancy
  • Respond to emergency maintenance issues and participate in on‑call rotations as required
  • Identify and report safety concerns and potential system failures; document findings in the maintenance system

Job description

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance tasks for residential units, common areas, and building systems. This role supports safe, efficient property operations by responding to service requests, assisting with preventative maintenance programs, and ensuring compliance with company standards and life-safety requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintenance and Repair
  • Complete routine maintenance and repair work orders in a timely and professional manner
  • Perform work order repairs involving plumbing, electrical, carpentry, appliances, and building systems
  • Assist with unit turns, including inspections, repairs, and readiness for occupancy
  • Respond to emergency maintenance issues and participate in on-call rotations as required
Preventative Maintenance
  • Assist with scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) inspections and services
  • Identify and report maintenance issues, safety concerns, and potential system failures
  • Accurately document completed work and inspection findings in the maintenance management system
  • Complete assigned PM tasks in accordance with established schedules and procedures
Compliance and Safety
  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and use required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with life-safety standards, building codes, and company policies
  • Verify proper operation of smoke detectors, CO detectors, fire stops, and other safety systems
  • Report leaks, mold-related growth (AMG), and hazardous conditions immediately
Team and Property Support
  • Work collaboratively with other maintenance team members and property staff
  • Maintain organized tools, equipment, and work areas
  • Provide courteous and professional service to residents and staff
  • Support Service Manager, Assistant Service Manager, and senior technicians as assigned
Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1–3 years of maintenance or facilities experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general repairs
Certifications
  • Trade School Certification a plus
  • Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks independently
  • Willingness to learn and develop technical skills
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to climb ladders, access mechanical spaces, and work in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to respond to after-hours emergencies as required
