City of Destin is seeking a Building Inspector/Plans Examiner in the Community Development/Building Division to enforce state and local codes through inspections, and to perform plan reviews ensuring compliance with Florida Building Codes.

Responsibilities include inspecting structures for code conformity, reviewing plans and permits, and providing technical assistance to the public, contractors, and officials. This is a full-time, on-site role with employer-paid benefits.

Competenze

• Must have high school diploma or higher; 4 years combined experience in construction or related field, building code inspection, or plans review; or equivalent education/experience.
• Must have a valid Florida driver’s license and Florida State Inspectors License in Building, Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical or One and Two Family; or obtain provisional license within 6 months and standard license within 1 year.
• Knowledge of Florida Building Codes and city-adopted standards and regulations.

Mansioni

• Inspect structures to determine compliance with Florida State Building Codes and standards.
• Review plans and permit applications to ensure compliance with building codes.
• Provide technical assistance to the public, contractors, design professionals, and officials.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
