Job summary

The City of Tomball is seeking a Building Inspector to ensure that residential, commercial, and multi-family construction complies with city codes and ICC/IRC regulations. The role involves inspecting new constructions and guiding contractors and residents on building-code queries.

You will interact with contractors, citizens, and business owners, and support pre-construction planning, plan reviews, and code enforcement. This is a full-time, on-site position with a focus on safety and compliance.

Qualifications

Education and experience will be considered in combination to meet requirements.
State Plumbing Inspector certification is required within 12 months of hire.
Licensed Plumbing Inspector preferred; Class C Driver's License is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Enforce city ordinances and building codes; perform inspections for compliance with ICC/IRC and adopted codes.
Respond to community inquiries; assist contractors, citizens and developers with questions.
Participate in pre-construction planning and provide guidance on building-related matters.
Address calls, emails and voicemails, and support related duties as needed.
