Job summary

The City of Tomball is seeking a Building Inspector to ensure that residential, commercial, and multi-family construction complies with city codes and ICC/IRC regulations. The role involves inspecting new constructions and guiding contractors and residents on building-code queries.

You will interact with contractors, citizens, and business owners, and support pre-construction planning, plan reviews, and code enforcement. This is a full-time, on-site position with a focus on safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Education and experience will be considered in combination to meet requirements.
• State Plumbing Inspector certification is required within 12 months of hire.
• Licensed Plumbing Inspector preferred; Class C Driver's License is advantageous.

Responsibilities

This includes performing regular inspections. In addition to enforcing codes, the Building Inspector actively communicates with contractors, citizens, and business owners, offering guidance and addressing any queries related to building codes and regulations.**Reports To** Building Official**FLSA** Non-Exempt**Positions Supervised** Code Compliance**Pay Grade** T-135**Building Inspector** **functions** **include but are not limited to the following.*** **Inspections and Enforcement:** Enforces city ordinances, focusing particularly on building codes. Performs inspections on new constructions to ensure compliance with ICC and IRC regulations.* Responds to community complaints, investigate, and take appropriate action.* **Community Interaction:**Assist contractors, citizens, and developers with pre-construction planning and other building-related questions.
