Job summary

The City of Tomball is seeking a Building Inspector to ensure residential, commercial, and multi-family constructions meet city ordinances and adopted building codes. You will perform inspections, enforce ICC and IRC regulations, and communicate with contractors, citizens, and business owners to provide guidance on building codes.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of relevant experience, HS diploma, and the ability to interpret construction plans.

Responsibilities

• Enforces city ordinances, focusing on building codes. Performs inspections on new constructions to ensure compliance with ICC/IRC regulations.
• Responds to community complaints, investigates, and takes appropriate action.
• Assist contractors, citizens, and developers with pre-construction planning and other building-related questions; handle calls, emails, voicemails.
• Contribute to the team by performing other related duties as assigned.
