City of Robstown, Texas, is seeking a Building Inspector to assist in inspections of new and remodeled residential and commercial buildings, ensuring compliance with city codes, ordinances, and inspection processes. Under direct supervision, you will coordinate inspections with contractors and citizens to uphold procedures and city policies.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 2–10 years of related experience, and a valid Texas driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • Valid Texas Class C Driver's License.
  • Preferred licenses: Journeyman plumbing or electrical; Master electrician; State Plumbing Inspector; HVAC licensed.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates inspections with contractors and advises citizens and contractors of building procedures and City policies.
  • Performs residential and light commercial inspections to ensure compliance with building codes, ordinances, zoning regulations, and contract specs.
  • Monitors status of construction inspection activities and keeps track of permits issued.
  • Notifies contractor, superintendent, or supervisor when violations are identified.
  • May be asked to perform other duties as required.

Pay: $25.35

Position Summary:

Under direct supervision of the Building Official, the Building Inspector will assist in the inspections of new and remodeled residential and/or commercial buildings to ensure compliance with the City building codes, ordinances, and inspection processes.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinates inspections with contractors and advises citizens and contractors of building procedures and City policies,
  • Performs residential and light commercial building, mechanical, electrical and plumbing inspections to ensure that new construction, alterations, and repairs comply with building codes, ordinances, zoning regulations, and contract specifications,
  • Monitors the status of construction inspection activities and keeps track of permits issued,
  • Notifies the construction contractor, superintendent, or supervisor when violations of building codes or ordinances are identified,
  • May be asked to perform other duties as required.
Required Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED),
  • Two (2) to ten (10) years related experience and/or training,
  • Valid Texas Class C Driver's License,
  • Consideration will be given to those with considerable construction trades work, Journeyman's plumbing or electrical license,
  • Master electrician license, State of Texas Plumbing Inspector License, HVAC, etc., preferred.
Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 75 pounds.
