Job summary

The City of Austin is seeking a Building & Grounds Lead to keep facilities clean and inviting. You will split time between custodial tasks and leading duties such as quality inspections, inventory control, work assignments, and special projects.

In this on-site role, you’ll support management, supervise crews, and coordinate with other city staff. The position requires a high school diploma and several years in janitorial or grounds keeping, with some leadership experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 3 years janitorial or grounds keeping experience.
• At least 1 year of crew supervision or lead experience.
• If operating vehicles, valid Texas Driver's License or ability to obtain.
• Experience leading trainings on custodial practices or safety is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform and inspect ground maintenance including mowing, irrigation, and leaves.
• Perform and assign custodial duties of restrooms, buildings and recreation areas.
• Coordinate work with City staff or contractors and supervise crews.
• Prepare and dismantle exhibit halls and ballrooms for events.
• Oversee minor building maintenance such as repairs and painting.
• Respond to citizen inquiries and manage routine administrative tasks.
