The City of Austin is seeking a Building & Grounds Lead to keep facilities clean and inviting. You will split time between custodial tasks and leading duties such as quality inspections, inventory control, work assignments, and special projects.
In this on-site role, you’ll support management, supervise crews, and coordinate with other city staff. The position requires a high school diploma and several years in janitorial or grounds keeping, with some leadership experience preferred.
The Building & Grounds Lead plays a key role in keeping City of Austin facilities clean and inviting, and up to quality standards. In this hands-on position, you’ll spend half your day performing custodial duties, and the other half performing Lead duties such as conducting quality inspections, managing inventory, distributing work assignments, and supporting management with special projects. Under general supervision, perform custodial and grounds keeping tasks in and around City operated buildings, grounds, parks, airports and recreation areas.

Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, and three (3) years experience related to janitorial or grounds keeping services, at least one (1) year of which includes crew experience.
If assigned to operate vehicles, must possess the appropriate Texas Driver's License for those vehicles.
